The purpose is to help bring attention to THE TRUTH, and the need for ACTION on Global Warming; other environmental problems; volunteering; and self preparedness, and helping others in disaster situations.

This amateur short video, “White House - Disaster and Environment,” is NOW available here to watch. The original content was produced by me, Albert V. Sheppard, and my two teammates, Jennifer L. Nord, and Brendon Nystedt while at West Valley College in Saratogo, California as student filmakers. I re-mixed and edited the film to produce the current video which contains clips from other videos for my Humanities 432 class project at DeVry University in Fremont. In the film I give credits to the clips that I borrowed from other videos. Some permissions are still pending. As you will notice, the film and this website is not for any commercial purpose nor profit. I am are not fund raising. I have no ulterior motive or political agenda for this website. ...and I don't send out junk mail. It is my intent to bring attention and action to our common world problems in my small way and I hope you will do the same.

White House edits CDC climate testimony

WASHINGTON - The White House severely edited congressional testimony given Tuesday by the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the impact of climate change on health, removing specific scientific references to potential health risks, according to two sources familiar with the documents. Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the Atlanta-based CDC, the government's premier disease monitoring agency, told a Senate hearing that climate change "is anticipated to have a broad range of impacts on the health of Americans." But her prepared testimony was devoted almost entirely to the CDC's preparation, with few details on what effects climate change could have on the spread of disease. Only during questioning did she describe some specific diseases that likely would be affected, again without elaboration.

Greenhouse gases and Global Warming

Greenhouse gases are components of the atmosphere that contribute to the greenhouse effect. Some greenhouse gases occur naturally in the atmosphere, while others result from human activities such as burning of fossil fuels such as coal. Greenhouse gases include water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone. Measurements from Antarctic ice cores show that just before industrial emissions started, atmospheric CO2 levels were about 280 parts per million by volume (ppm; the units µL/L are occasionally used and are identical to parts per million by volume). From the same ice cores it appears that CO2 concentrations stayed between 260 and 280 ppm during the preceding 10,000 years. Studies using evidence from stomata of fossilized leaves suggest greater variability, with CO2 levels above 300 ppm during the period 7,000-10,000 years ago, though others have argued that these findings more likely reflect calibration/contamination problems rather than actual CO2 variability. Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, the concentrations of many of the greenhouse gases have increased. The concentration of CO2 has increased by about 100 ppm (i.e., from 280 ppm to 380 ppm). The first 50 ppm increase took place in about 200 years, from the start of the Industrial Revolution to around 1973; the next 50 ppm increase took place in about 33 years, from 1973 to 2006. U.S. rebuffs Germany on greenhouse gas cuts

WASHINGTON: The United States has rejected Germany's proposal for deep long-term cuts in greenhouse gas emissions, setting the stage for a battle that will pit President George W. Bush against his European allies at next month's meeting of the world's richest countries. In unusually harsh language, Bush administration negotiators took issue with the German draft of the communiqué for the meeting of the Group of 8 industrialized nations, complaining that the proposal "crosses multiple red lines in terms of what we simply cannot agree to." "We have tried to tread lightly, but there is only so far we can go given our fundamental opposition to the German position," the American response said. Germany, backed by Britain and now Japan, has proposed cutting global greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2050. Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, who will be the host of the meeting in the Baltic Sea resort of Heiligendamm next month, has been pushing hard to get the Group of 8 to take significant action on climate change. -- International Hearald Tribune
